Concept Design

The starting point is a meeting with the client on site, to discuss their ideas and aspirations for the lighting. If the property is a new build the architectural plans and elevations form the basis of this consultation. Following these discussions the client is sent a full set of lighting plans marked up onto the architectural drawings, complete with preliminary lighting and control specification. This specification leads the client through the design concepts, describes the fittings to be used, provides the electrician with specific installation detail and provides a budget.

Detailed Design

From here the client can choose how much support they would like as work progresses. The following services are offered:

  • Co-ordination with the design team and audio visual specialists
  • Revisions to the lighting design to compliment architectural updates
  • Detailed design with manufacturers for bespoke light fittings
  • Detailing of integrated lighting solutions to the architectural plans
  • Full specification of the light fittings and control systems
  • Guidance on decorative lighting styles
  • Review of alternative suppliers to balance the budget
  • On site co-ordination meetings with contractors

Commissioning

Once the installation has been tested by the electrician and the client has moved in, commissioning the lighting completes the design service. This involves an evening visit to finesse the detailing of the integrated lighting with alternative lamps and lenses and set the scenes of the lighting control, if applicable.
